Access to the Shimba Hills Lodge is an adventure itself. Arriving at the Reserve’s gate, guests transfer to safari cruisers and drive to within walking distance of the lodge. The last few hundred meters are covered on foot. There are a variety of walks into the bush accompanied by an armed guard. Early morning game drives by land crusier are also available. The open fronted dining room allows unrestricted game and bird viewing and an elevated walkway extending well into the forest gives visitors a rare few moments alone with nature. All rooms are comfortably and uniquely furnished.

Guests can choose from a wide range of activities including game drives and balloon safaris over the Mara.

Muthaiga Safari Camp lies on the South Eastern border of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The camp is composed of seven tents and two villas.The tents are built amongst the trees ensuring privacy and each has a veranda with a spectacular view. All the tents are individually styled and have their own bathroom, with piped hot water , electricity and a veranda set with a table and chairs. Guests can enjoy themselves with game driving, a walking safari, day fishing trips at Lake Victoria, cultural community visits and scenic flight over the Maasai Mara flying just 50 feet above the migrating herds.

    My wife and I have traveled extensively over the world from our home in Texas. A number of years ago – about thirty – we took a safair camp trip to Kenya for two weeks – we consider it the outstanding trip of our lives. People, places animals, food – all the best!!

    Very nice hotels! I’m an advocate of sustainable tourism and these hotels are perfect accommodations. Shimba Hills Lodge Hotel looks amazing, and I think this is the perfect place for me.
