10 Largest Hotels in the World

By Louise Peterson · Last updated on June 8, 2025

You might think that one all-inclusive you stayed in was big, but think again. These mega-hotels are way more than just a place to rest your head, and these monsters are practically small countries with their own zip codes. From Vegas (shocker, they love everything oversized) to the mountains of Malaysia, these hotels aren’t messing around when it comes to room count.

Truth is, staying at one of these giants is an experience in itself. Need a swimming pool? How about seven? Hungry at 3 am? Choose from 20 restaurants. Here, you could spend your entire vacation without ever figuring out where all the elevators are. Let’s dive into the places that make regular hotels look like tiny houses.

10. Ambassador City Jomtien, Pattaya

Ambassador City Jomtien

This beachfront behemoth in Thailand is so sprawling that staff sometimes use golf carts to get around, and you can hitch a ride too if you need. The beach here is pretty spectacular, and you’ll never struggle to find a pool chair because, well, they have pools the size of small lakes.

The 4,219 rooms won’t win any design awards (unless “1990s Functional” becomes a category), but that’s not why people come here. It’s all about the sheer scale of the place and the ability to wander around for hours discovering random amenities you didn’t know you had on your hotel checklist.

9. Luxor, Las Vegas

Luxor, Las Vegas

Vegas loves a theme, and Luxor didn’t hold back on the Egypt energy. The massive black pyramid shoots a light beam so powerful it could probably signal Batman, and inside you’re hit with a ridiculously huge atrium to match. The place screams “we don’t understand subtle,” which is exactly what makes it awesome.

The Luxor and its 4,407 rooms isn’t the newest kid on the block anymore, but there’s something charming about its commitment to the Egyptian schtick. Where else can you ride an “inclinator” instead of an elevator and pose with a sphinx after losing at blackjack?

8. Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas

Mandalay Bay

Mandalay Bay is Vegas pretending it has a coastline and they’ve created a massive pool paradise that’ll make you forget you’re surrounded by nothing but desert for hundreds of miles. The wave pool generates real waves, and when it hits 110 degrees outside (and it will), you’ll be thanking whatever gambling gods led you here.

Beyond the artificial ocean, they’ve built a shark reef where you can walk through tunnels with sharks swimming overhead. It’s both awesome and slightly unsettling when you remember you’re in a building that also has slot machines and 4,426 rooms. The place gives off tropical luxury vibes without being cheesy about it.

7. Wynn, Las Vegas

Wynn, Las Vegas

Unlike most Vegas hotels that beat you over the head with a theme, the Wynn just quietly whispers, “I’m better than other hotels.” The place feels like what rich people think normal is, with fresh flowers everywhere and natural light (a radical concept in Vegas) pouring through massive windows.

Even the casino feels fancy, without the usual desperation vibe. The 4,748 rooms are genuinely nice rather than just Vegas-nice, with beds that make you consider whether you could fit one in your car to take home. The Wynn isn’t trying to be Italy or Egypt or New York, but instead, it’s just being its bougie self, and somehow that’s refreshing in Vegas.

6. Izmailovo Hotel, Moscow

Izmailovo Hotel, Moscow

The Soviets weren’t known for subtle architecture and this concrete giant from the 1980 Olympics era is anything but. And with 5,000 in its 4 mega buildings, it’s either impressive or terrifying, depending on your feelings about Soviet design. But, despite its slightly apocalyptic exterior, the place is surprisingly chill and shockingly affordable.

The complex even has a fantastic flea market at its base where you can buy absolutely everything, including fake Fabergé eggs and those nesting dolls you definitely don’t need but will buy anyway. It’s not luxurious (unless exposed concrete is your thing), but it’s an authentic slice of Russia that won’t destroy your wallet like Moscow’s fancier spots.

5. The Londoner, Macao

The Londoner

Imagine London, but make it extra. Apart from the 6,000 rooms, you will also find a fake Big Ben, fake Houses of Parliament, and even a fake London Eye all crammed together like Britain’s greatest hits album. It’s ridiculous in the best possible way.

Inside, they’ve gone all-in on the British theme with staff dressed like Beefeaters (aka the guy from the gin bottle) and more phone booths than you can count. The shopping areas also look like London’s high streets, minus the rain. It’s completely over-the-top and absolutely not like actual London, which is kind of the point.

4. Abraj Al Bait, Mecca

Abraj Al Bait

This massive complex takes “location, location, location” to holy levels as it’s literally next door to the most sacred site in Islam. The building is dominated by a giant clock that can be seen from miles away, which is handy when you’re trying to make it back for prayer time.

Unlike other hotels on this list, the Abraj Al Bait wasn’t built for vacation selfies or pool parties. It serves millions of pilgrims who visit Mecca each year, with direct access to the Grand Mosque. Some of the 6,000 rooms have views of the Kaaba and are the most coveted, making it one of those hotels where people care more about which direction their room faces than whether the Wi-Fi works.

3. MGM Grand, Las Vegas

MGM Grand

This green giant sprawls across enough land to house a small nation, with a casino floor that seems to have its own horizon. You could spend your entire vacation just trying to find all the restaurants because there are more dining options than some small towns have residents.

The pool complex is practically a water park, with enough space to fit several regular hotel pools inside it. The MGM also hosts the biggest shows and fights in Vegas, meaning you might even share an elevator with famous people! Probably not, though because with 6,852 rooms, chances are you won’t even run into your friends.

2. The Venetian Resort, Las Vegas

The Venetian Resort

The Venetian is as iconic as it gets, and they even built actual canals inside the hotel where gondoliers sing while rowing tourists around. The ceiling is painted to look like the sky, which is simultaneously tacky and amazing, leaving you perpetually confused about the time.

Every one of its 7,115 rooms is a suite, which means even the basic options are bigger than some apartments. The Grand Canal Shoppes lets you experience the joy of paying too much for things while pretending you’re in Italy, complete with a replica St. Mark’s Square. Yes, it’s completely fake Venice, but it’s fake Venice where you can get room service at 3 am and the buildings aren’t slowly sinking (so in some ways, it’s an improvement).

1. First World Hotel, Genting Highlands

First World Hotel

The First World Hotel in Malaysia’s Genting Highlands holds the actual world record for most rooms (7,351 to be exact), and from a distance, it looks like someone built a small city using Legos. It sits on top of a misty mountain and is connected to a theme park, casinos, and enough restaurants to eat somewhere different for weeks.

The rooms range from “just a place to sleep” basic to “okay, this is actually nice” depending on your budget. On its mountainous perch, you will realize the best part might actually be the temperature. Malaysia is typically sweat city, but up in Genting, you might actually need a light jacket. Mind-blowing, right?
