Interlaken is often referred to as the sporting capital of Switzerland, and it is easy to see why. The Swiss city is located directly between two major Alpine lakes: Thun and Brienz. As a result, you’ll never be too far from the chance to go swimming, boating or biking around the lakes. Come winter, the sports don’t stop. Interlaken is popular among those who ice-skate, ski and even go sledding in the dark, a fun local pastime. Not to missed is the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn, a protected glacier area that is one of the most scenic and photographed destinations in all of Switzerland.
