With mild temperatures across the globe, March is the perfect month to travel. It is also within the dry season of many tropical destinations, making it ideal for long-haul getaways.
Whether you’re looking to explore historical landmarks, sunbathe on the beach, or get into the outdoors – March is the ideal time for all sorts of holidays.
Another perk is that March is outside of the peak travel season in many parts of the world, so you can expect less crowds and more affordable prices on flights and accommodation.
Each of these countries offer a unique experience, from island beach escapes to volcano hikes.
Australia

In March Australia has warm temperatures and blue skies. Skip the scorching summer months from December to February and visit in March instead. This cooler month marks the start of their autumn season.
Another perk of going this time of year? There are fewer crowds, which means less competition for accommodation and lower prices all around than December through to February.
It’s the perfect time of year for hiking and there are autumn festivals across the country like the famous Adelaide Festival in South Australia.
Looking to catch a tan? March still boasts great beach weather, just with less chance of a nasty sunburn.
Hungary
With mild temperatures throughout March, Hungary is the perfect destination for adventurous travellers. Although you will want to pack thick layers as the evenings can get chilly.
The climate is perfect for exploring cities like Budapest on foot. You can venture to spots like the famous Buda Castle without breaking into a sweat and make the most of the local bakeries along the way.
It’s also a great time of year to explore the country’s nature hotspots. Like Lake Balaton and Hortobagyi National Park. March also coincides with the annual National Day festivities that take place in Debrecen.
Whilst there are still rainy days in March, there are a lot fewer than during the winter months.

Egypt
Egypt is a busy and lively country. The summer months can be really gruelling because of the extreme heat.
In March it’s still hot, but much cooler than in the summer. You won’t be short on sun during the day, but the nights are breezy and offer some relief from the heat. It’s the perfect climate for exploring the unshaded desert landscape surrounding the Pyramids of Giza.
Go temple hopping along the Nile in the ancient cities of Aswan and Luxor. The Valley of the Kings and Kom Ombo Temple should be at the top of your list.
Ghana
With temperatures you wouldn’t even see in the summer months in a lot of countries around the world, March in Ghana is hot and dry.
At the tail end of the dry season, March also offers off-peak tourist prices and fewer crowds. It’s the ideal destination for those looking to dive into the country’s heritage and culture.
The 28 coastal UNESCO forts and castles built between 1482 and 1786 are a great place to start your trip.

Guatemala
Boasting warm temperatures across the country, March is also within the country’s dry season.

Barbados
The springtime in Barbados is positively tropical. With hot and sunny weather throughout the month of March, it’s the perfect time to come. Visit right before the temperatures and humidity start to get too much.
It’s an ideal time for a tropical beach holiday. Bask in the sun on the white-sand shores of the quaint Miami Beach and relish the March temperatures.

The real reason Romania is so fantastic in the spring is because of the country’s flower blossoms. Entire valleys come to life as wildflowers emerge after the cold winter. Some of the best places to see the flowers are the Transylvanian Plateau and the Carpathian mountains.
Romania is also dotted with epic castles you can visit, like the Peles Castle and Bran Castle (the famous home of Dracula!).
Morocco
Morocco becomes too hot to handle in the summer months, but in March the temperatures are warm and pleasant. The perfect weather for exploring the country’s chaotic and maze-like cities, as well as the desert landscapes.

Make the most of the glorious weather exploring the almost 80 Buddhist temples that surround the quaint town of Luan Prabang along the Mekong River.

Uzbekistan
Sunny and mild, Uzbekistan is characterized by pleasant temperatures in March. Be mindful that there can be chilly days and low temperatures on rainy days, so pack for a cocktail of climates.
